Accelerated provision of temporary Turkish ID cards for citizens affected by the earthquake

Türkiye’s Directorate General of Population and Citizenship Affairs announced that citizens who lost their Turkish identity cards in the southeastern disaster would not need to present any documents, photos, or fees to obtain a temporary identity document, regardless of the province they apply in.

The announcement aimed to clarify any confusion generated by a local TV channel’s report suggesting that earthquake victims in Adıyaman would need to provide new photographs to get temporary identity documents. The directorate explained that they had taken measures to prevent earthquake survivors from being charged unnecessarily for any documents to obtain a temporary identity card, reducing their victimization.

Moreover, the directorate emphasized that all identification documents could be obtained through the e-Government platform. On Friday, 97,893 citizens received temporary identity documents, with 4,381 citizens acquiring them through e-Government.



The directorate also highlighted the voluntary efforts of hundreds of colleagues who had come from other provinces to work tirelessly day and night to assist the citizens and guarantee their public safety.
